Sustainability

doing our bit

At SE Equestrian, we believe that everyone has the responsibility to live and work in a sustainable manner. Adopting a sustainable approach to our business is close to our hearts. It's proven that animals can help us achieve wider global sustainability goals, so therefore prioritising environmentally friendly choices for their health and welfare is central to our day to day actions.

We are working with our team on making lower carbon and nature rich choices everyday to continue playing our part in improving the nurturing and nourishing of our environment. Some of the ways in which we do this are:

  • Selecting manufacturers who are environmentally conscious of their packaging and their own operations' impact on the environment, such as Baileys and NAF.
  • We use Bedmax and Littlemax bedding - they are made from sustainable materials, with no wastage and use 100% recyclable packaging.
  • Our hay and straw is sourced locally, within 5 miles of the yard.
  • All yard wastage is recycled and collected by BIFFA who offer sustainable waste management.
  • Our location means we are lucky to be close to many top competition centres and while we will travel, we try our best to keep long journeys to a minimum to reduce our emissions impact.
  • All lighting of our facilities is either solar powered or LED.
  • To reduce water usage, we have 3500L tanks where we harvest rain water for use on the yard.
  • Land management is extremely important and one of the ways in which we do this is keeping and breeding sheep for cross grazing. This encourages natural fertilisation and limits the use of wormers. An added bonus is keeping everything tidy reducing the need for topping.
